25 October 2010

Hey mom,

This week has been great! lots of new things are happening and well yeah! We found one new investigator this week his name is Ed. That now makes 2! :) yeah! I have been doing well!! the work is great here!! This week I have been studying alot about the atonement of Jesus christ and the role it plays in our life and also about authority and how to help understand that the authority his pastor has is not from God, but from a paper and a college. I am truly greatful for the opportunity to serve the Lord at this time here in Cold Arizona! It is about 65-75 degrees now and it bites! ha probably not as cold as it is there! Hope you are enjoying the rain, better get our your waders! :) your gonna need them it looks like! No gas for you! bummer! Thanks for all the Birthday wishes! I did recieve a card from your mom, and the JC penny stuff thanks so much! As the Fall here begins I want to share my love and gratitude for our savior and the love in which he gives the peace he affords and as we follow what he teaches we shall be truly happy. I would not rather be anywhere than here at this time serving the Lord and his Lost sheep. As you strive to do so the love you have for the savior yourself and the rest of the family will grow. don't be afraid to share the gospel. If I can overcome my fears so can you pray for help and you shall recieve it! You probably can't imagine me going up to a man or woman on the street and starting a conversation well guess what I can! Some days are easier than most, but if you don't ask they can't say yes. I found out my new companion this last week he comes the first week in February, Elder Bradley, and supposedly he is completely deaf! ooh what fun! :) can't wait! it will be a super challenge for me and for the mission as a whole, but it will be truly worth it!:)
Well gotta run thanks for all you do
Love,

18 October 2010

This week as been Crazy!! feels like we drove around a lot and didn't really accomplish much, but a lot came from it! We have one new investigator, His name is Jay Busby, we met him at the grocery store about 4-5 months ago before i went home, We had forgotten about him and we received a referral for him from some other missionaries, He came to the church and well it is all history from there! he doesn't have a baptismal date yet. he is very methodical! We called him this morning and set up an appointment with him, he wanted to compare the teachings of Joseph Smith and Jesus Christ! ooh boy is it our lucky day! he said he as yet to find a church with it all in the box! :) yee haw! :) cant wait!! keep searching for missionary opportunities and don't let satan get in the way of you accomplishing that! :) You can do it! I'll be waiting to hear from you!! As you can see the time is very short today, and it's been super hectic! gotta run! Love you all! :) Thanks for the update! Tell everyone hello! Love you

9:00 Planning and
10:30 light out
in between 12 and 9 we have many different finding opportunities, tracting ( knocking doors), meeting people, teaching meeting with less active and ward members ect.

Recently we saw a huge miracle and are praying hard the it will continue to lead to success for The Lord in this area.
We were in an area far away from our Apt so we dont go down there too often however when we were there on our way to visit another person Elder Karlson was prompted to go and visit a person from the Branch. Age 17 who hasn't been to church in about 5 years i think. The youth leader has tried and tried and tried to contact him. No luck. He has moved here and there or whatever reason. ANywho he asked me if he lived Close. I said Yes he does actually Thats not bad idea. We went by and he was home! (i have met him once before in the VERY beginning of my mission. He wasn't interested in doing anything or coming back to church) Anywho we talked asked how he was doing and literallly about a minute into the conversation he asked us (yes HE asked US) about church. How it was going. We said GREAT! and in efforts to stay on that topic but turn the tables to HIM. i searched for what to ask. I asked "Do you miss church?" I feel i already knew that answer and was searching for something else. However nothing came so i asked. ANd he said no. but went on to explain why he was baptized 7 years ago and why he left the church. (both reasons mostly just family His uncle converted. everyone else was still catholic) and then he went on to explain lately he has really wanting to learn more about God and he had questions about Him he has been wondering and striving to find answers too. We asked Him about the Book of Mormon if he has been reading it and if we could visit him to answer those questions. He did not know where HIs Book of Mormon was. His mom put it somewhere he just didnt know where. ANywho he then said i don't have much time my uncle is on his way to pick me up. But you might could come in for a few minutes. Let me ask when he will get here. He would arrive in 15 minutes but Ricky invited us in anyways. We went in and had a very great short talk with him. Asked him what he wanted to know about God explained our purpose and what we would be striving to accomplish. We are excited to meet with him. He didn't know his schedule but will let us know soon. We are praying Things will work out. This could lead to a lot of success for the Lord here and lead many of His deaf children back to Him. Ricky is a senior or junior at the local Deaf School. Many youth who haven't already been stuck in their ways or worn out by missionaries over the years. We hope and hope. ANd have faith in miracles. Whatever the Lord will. We are excited to see what happens. :)

It is great for to hear from you all this week I hope it seemed to answer you questions if have other let me know i can answer!
Love you! take care!

04 October 2010

Hey cripple haha!!! Arm, leg, you almost got the whole body covered!! :)
The weather here is super hot still it looks like rain today but we have yet to see it! :) it's about 100 still and getting warmer every day!! but it's gonna cool down way too soon!!!!!! I need a few more white short sleeve shirt 17.5 neck 33/34 sleeve, and a sweater vest it's gonna get down right cold soon!!!!! it gets cold here at night now down about 75 or so but yeah!

As for the ASL area here
the boundaries are
1 hour north of San Man well ( i know that is wrong spelling! Spanish word can't spell it) manuel maybe
to the border with Mexico to the south Nogales, Sierra Vista, Ect
east to Silver City and Deming New Mexico ad West just 1 hour west of Phoenix!

Elder Kane and I Cover it all! mostly on referrals, so we cover the length of Tucson almost everyday! we average about 50-100 miles everyday in driving. Here no 2 deaf people live close together as you can tell!!

We are never home but for studies in the morning and usually have either a dinner appointment, which is VERY VERY VERY RARE, 1 maybe 2 a week if we are lucky! ha ha but if we don't we normally will take something or go to eat! most often we have to just pick something up because we go west with the intent to return to the east for dinner and the evening but most often something comes up and we have to eat and drive at the same time. on the phone or texting, emailing, checking updates on the web to the next deaf activity for the organizations around here and off to the next appointment. i can't imagine if it gets much busier than this! the work is going great!

Well gotta run! Check out the new advertisements floating around Tucson lately! they are on http://mormon.org/people/find/ then click on the list feature they are awesome! :)

The mission is the best!! best thing I have ever done!!!! it's been super busy no investigators yet!! deaf people are very stubborn and are not willing to listen to our message it's really sad, but all good! Elder kane is a District leader so we get to exchange alot with other elders i'm not real fond of that it slows down the work but it's great!!:) makes me appreciate my companion more! :) I love it here. the heat the sore feet the pain in the back are nothing when we focus on the reason we are here!! :)

ooh a nice wild couple of ties would be great! more bright colors other than red! no dark colors. :) thanks :) A few food gift cards would be nice too :) thanks :)
